Makowsky Friends

Friday, February 17, 2006

I think everyone here was blown away this past week at Milton's passing. It's ironic that the man who created the foundation of our friendships and memories ' leaves' after we have found each other again. I think you will agree he and his family deserves our recognition and share in the loss. Many lives and many generations were impacted by Makowskys.

We are all absolutely thrilled to be together again , and look forward to speaking and seeing everyone this summer at the reunion.

Please feel free to comment on this 'tribute' Posting .

I didn't keep in touch with the Makowsky family for years. I heard bits and pieces of their lives through my Dad, Carl. A few weeks ago I got "the call" as most of us did from Larry Brown telling me of plans for a reunion. It brought back so many memories of Makowskys and my family. I started emailing with Paige and Sandy and learned a lot about the family and what I missed out on over those years. Just when I was going to be reunited with my Uncle MIlton and Aunt Frieda, I got an email from Sandy saying Uncle Milton had passed away peacefully. I couldn't believe it!
I remember Milton as being so strong and always smiling. I remember how wonderfully he always treated our family. I remember how he took me and my sister to the lake and taught us how to put worms on the hook for fishing. We used to go up to visit during the winters and stay in the main house and go for walks with him. I am sad that I can't see him again. I went to the funeral and was so happy to see all my long lost cousins. It was sad and happy at the same time. I also had a little reunion with Steve and Judy and her parents, Alex and Midge.
The eulogies at the funeral were so beautiful and also funny, the way he used that loudspeaker! It's true he was a wonderful man with a big big heart! I was so happy to hear that Frieda and the family would be at the reunion. This will be an amazing event...............a real tribute to a man, and woman, who together built a lifetime of happiness and memories for all of us!!!
