I've lived in different areas of the country and the only place that knows what a "clincher" is NYC.

If I tried to hit one now, it will have to be the size of a beach ball!!!

Steve...I don't believe that for a minute...you could still hit it...it probably just wouldn't go that far...

As for me...my competitive juices still flow...a subsequent trip to the chiropractor would be necessary......but worth it !

Mitch, when Steve hit that beautiful big white Clincher Softball when he was a camper he was only 4 foot tall.

It never went past the pitchers mound then. What makes you think anything has changed now?

Hell, when Steve grew up, nah he never did, we bowled on the same team. He had all he could do to roll the bowling ball down the alley so that it could hit the head pin. That is after I helped him lift it.

And when he did get a strike, his knee gave out even wearing the brace and he was the only bowler in the league to spend time on the disabled list. It got so bad that we had to place him on IR (Injured Reserve) for the season.

But Judy did not want him home so she told me where to go and what to do with IRing Steve for the season. She said once your camper always your camper.

Not to worry, we made Steve into a pin boy. The guys lined up when Steve showed up as the head pin.

    Bobby!
What you didn't mention is that I was the only bowler in our league to make the 7-10 split...and only the guys on the other team saw it. Bobby told me that there was a big prize fo this accomplishment and I was so excited. I couldn't wait for the check to come in the mail. Imagine my surprise when only a small
7-10 iron on patch fell out of the envelope. RATS!

Jodi and Shari thank you. As for Steve, I was only kidding about his bowling as he wasn't too bad.

As a matter of fact, we won the league championship together in 1978 with our team SABJAR named after Judy & Steve's daughter SABrina, and my son JARed.

And yes, Steve made the 7 - 10 split and still have that championship patch.

But tell the truth, wouldn't most of you like to see Steve come down as the Head Pin?

Judy can be first in line!

    Too funny!

Mitch where's our Mickey Mantle rookie bubble gum cards? Did your mother throw yours out like mine did? Duke, Willie and the rest all gone.

Bob...All my cards met the same fate as yours. What my mom didn't throw away, I used as sound enhancers on the spokes of my bike. (Ever do that?) I also used to "flip" cards against the walls in B'klyn. I actually do have a signed Mickey Mantle baseball that I keep on my desk. The Mick was my favorite. I remember Steve loved Willie Mays and we had many an argument as to who was better.

This is for Bob, Steve, Jack or anyone who remembers.

I remember we were playing Morris Sondak and one of their guys hits it a ton to left field... Larry goes back....I mean way back...& suddenly disappears from view. We all run out there and there is Larry with the ball in his glove on Route 209. Does anyone recall that?

kup,i remember that catch . I was on my ass watching the cows and the bulls walk by me on 209.Two cars stopped and i thought they were asking me if i was ok, but they only wanted to know how to get to kerhonkson.

And before I ask who the SOB who pitched the ball that was hit a mile, I have a strange feeling that it was the author asking the question?

Larry, thank God it was my change up, because if it was my fastball you may not have been with us any more. If the cars didn't kill you the cows would have trampled you.

    Too funny.

Where the hell is Kenny Fine who cost me my no hitter?

Bobby , sounds like you've already pitched a Perfect game with many folks here.

Do you have a candy fetish? I know someone you can see about that ...ha

So far you're in the lead for MVB ...

    Most Valuable Blogger !!!!!

Jackie, the change-up was my fastball. Too bad some of these major league pitchers still don't understand that all you have to do is change the speed just a little between pitches to be successful.

Jackie, Larry was one of the lucky one's. You should've seen how many outfielders I killed along the way; especially when I played on the US Army team in Texas?

When they caught up to me it was like launching a Sputnik. The balls they hit off of me are still in orbit today. Larry that was one great catch.

The reason I knew about the candy was that someone gave me a box filled with all that crap as a birthday present recently. It was fun seeing all those old candies.

Look forward to seeing all of you at the reunion.
