My Favorite. I love the chill in the air at night and snuggling under the covers. Fewer hot flashes, and more clothes to hide the slight imperfections that come with time, although you my friends all look so beautiful, hard to notice that any time has passed.
This wasn't always my favorite time of year. Way back when it meant leaving you all, returning to school and waiting 10 more months to be together. How lucky am I that I see many of you frequently and speak to others often.
I loved the autumn. We have none now, but one of my favorites was when Ellen was as SUNY New Paltz. The mountains surrounding were screaming with colors and the smell of the impending winter was in the air.
Glad I can still remember those days at New Paltz.....LOL
About 3 weeks ago Ellen & I were hijacked to Makowskys by Larry & Lesl
It was great seeing the colors beginning to change. We saw our Bungalows , Alan , Sandy & Joyce.
Ellens & Larry's bungalow is sinking into right field, but our names were still on the walls where we scrawled them almost 40 yrs ago
The Main house is being renovated and should be wonderful when completed. Some of the older 'shacks' including Pauline's are being leveled. Joyce now lives in the 'schoolhouse' and had this cool screened gazeebo built in front.
All in all a great day to once again experience with good old (not that old !) friends . Driving through the mountains and country roads was so 'refreshing' , We have no Mtns. in Florida
Rob, how were the bungalow renovations going? They had started last year and things were looking good. Please tell us more about your visit. I feel so relaxed as soon as I see the mountains. Then, the sign...
If Mike ever put the units up for individual sale, I'm buying one with the family! It would be great if us Old Timers bought units and made it like it was in the "Good Old Days"!
Although I auction off Co-Ops for a living, and pretty much tell people to avoid them, this would be my exception to co-op the bungalows.
Lynda & I drove up to visit Larry & Leslie in New Windsor yesterday. It was such a "gorgeous" day we found ourselves driving around and we stopped at a great farm stand on Rt. 299 called Jenkins-Lueken Orchards. We bought some "Honeycrisp Apples" and before we knew it we were driving up the Mohonk passing apples around. (Gee...35 years ago we were passing other "funny things" around to each other. Guess where we ended up? As Rob stated previously there were some big changes going on up there. We saw Alan & Pat and they were very gracious. We stayed some time and shot the breeze. The autumnal foliage was brilliant and the colony had such a quiet calm to it. It really was terrific and of course the memories just keep on flowing.
If you haven't lived it ...you just can't understand it!
Do you ever read some of the old posts, especially when it was all new. Wow, it seemed like we would always be on here every day. Remember when we couldn't wait to log on, and some of us never logged off. I would see postings from late at night. I miss that. It was all so exciting finding eachother again.
I guess I am pretty lucky, I see a few, e-mail a few more.
Hope you are all well, had a Happy New Year and are getting ready to vote.
I check this site every day. It feels like home, even when it is quite. Jodi, you write so well and from the heart. It is always so nice to read your comments.
The Concord rumor has been around for a few decades now. It is such a shame that the ultra liberals will not allow casino gambling up there. The economy in Western Ulster and Sullivan Counties is in a terrible state. The gambling will rejuvenate the area and who knows, maybe we can have the Borscht Belt redux? I can imagine what it would have been like if casino gambling was allowed back in the heyday. Our folks would have been there every week!
I think the colony got some snow over the past few days. Some parts of the area got as much as 8 inches. I hope that is not a sign of what is to come!
Have a great Halloween, everyone! We can't wait to go door to door with our little dinosaur. :-) My husband is HOPING that bought too many peanut butter cups!
Jodi, my sister rented Sweet Lorraine. I am planning to watch it this weekend. Thanks for telling me about the movie!
I so remember the RP on garlic bread! A little duck sauce on it and ahhhh. They were good! I remember getting them when Flash ran the place. He made them great as did Shelly. Now I want one for lunch!

Fall...The fall of the housing market, the fall of the banks, the fall of values in the stock market.
I think we should simply call it Autumn.
Must be nice and chilly up yonder in High Falls these morns. Got to light the 'ol Slattery oven in the bungalow to take the chill out.
Here on LI, we still have green on the trees, lawn still growing like it is June.
Shana Tovah to all!

Hey Mitch , did you have candied apples?...I loved these , if I had one now , I'd probably break a tooth.
When we went to Badami's farms in New Paltz , we'd always get them. Great fruits and veggies too.
Hey didn't someone we know get busted for stealing corn?
