    "The Ultimate Fall Classic"

If there is any justice in baseball, they will.

Wouldn't it be great if a Yankees-Mets World Series brought down the houses?

That's the challange confronting our two terminal major league ballparks:

Yankee Stadium, a baseball shrine, and Shea Stadium, umm, an aquired taste.

It can happen. It should happen!

Rob that's a great photograph of the House that Ruth built. It brings back so many wonderful memories.

Although I'm a Mets fan since 1962 and before that a Brooklyn Dodger fan I lived on 174th Street just 13 blocks from Yankee Stadium.

I went there many times with my G.O. card for 50 cents. When I was a teenager I had the pleasure of working as a vendor at the Old Stadium.

I still recall that early one morning I was sitting in the lower right field stands with other vendors when the back up secondbaseman to Bobby Richardson came over to chat with us.

One of the vendors engaged him in friendly conversation by asking him who was the best between Mickey, Willie, and The Duke? How many times did we have that conversation as kids?

His answer was startling when he replied none of them were as good as Hank Aaron. I was shocked by his answer.

We often forget in the high tech communication world we now live in; but at the time, there wasn't any ESPN or for that matter CNN. The world started and ended in New York.

As it turned out he was correct as Hammering Hank became the all time Home Run Champion.*

And in case you're wondering who the back up secondbaseman was? Most of you never even heard of him. His name was/is Pedro Gonzalez.

As we start yet another season, no matter who you root for, may your field of dreams come true!

    PLAY BALL!

    Bobby

Great photo! At one time, we could afford to take the family to a game. Today, one can go broke doing it. I would like a seat from Shea and from YS. Old NY stadiums became housing projects. Look at the Polo Grounds and Ebbets Field. Shea and YS will not go that way. Bob-If you live on 174th today, you would need a full carry permit and be fully lingual in Spanish. Only on the Concourse does one find graffiti on walls four stories up!

I think that YS is going to be torn down at some point. It is sad that the old charm of classic stadiums is going bye-bye. ESPN? FSN? YES? Gee, it was Channel 9 and 11 and brought to you by Schaeffer or Ballantine!

Remember...The dogs are the best when the water is as brown as the lake at Makowsky's!

BATTER UP! Do we play Majestic next week? (Actually, Majestic is called Three Green Fields now)

    Announcing Yankee games
I can hear Mel Allen calling a homerun, "That ball is going, going, it is GONE!"....and right after he would hawk the beer by saying that was another "Ballantine Blast"

I know I'm older than you Storch because rather than Schaeffer beer, I remember Lindsay Nelson talking about Reingold beer. I still remember the jingle. Remember??? "My beer is Reingold the dry beer, think of Reingold whenever you buy beer,It's refreshing not sweet, it's the extra dry treat. Won't you try extra dry Reingold beer"

It's a good thing for all of you that you can't hear me....

I'll be the first to admit there's nothing better than a day at the Ballpark.

Even here in Sofla , But

The cost for a family of 4 to go a game - 'MUY GRANDE' .. $300
    the memories...Priceless

Guys like Mel Allen were great.
Now the Yankees have self promoting John Sterling.

I watch the Yankee games with the sound off.....and also the picture off!

I'm back. How about them Tigers, nice start for the team that will dominate baseball this year. Regarding Major league baseball and Makowsky's. Who saw any games during the summer. I remember tagging along with my brother and Jeff Kaye finding any life in any barbecue for late night dogs while listening to a transister radio, Damn that Bobby Qualls, I'd sweqr I saw(or was at the stadium) him break up the Seaver perfect game when it was probably heard on a $5 transister bought at Korvettes
